As Nigeria marks another Democracy Day, the Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda, popularly called AKOD, said Democracy is not merely about elections; it is about participation, inclusion, accountability, and ensuring that every citizen has a voice in shaping collective future of citizens.
AKOD, who stated this on his message to Nigerians on celebration of Democracy Day and June 12, anniversary, saluted the courage, sacrifices, and resilience of the patriots who fought for the democratic freedoms citizens enjoy today.
According to him, Dauda said, “In this democracy, we are all stakeholders, and nobody should be left behind regardless of age, gender, religion, ethnicity, or social status.
“As we reflect on our democratic journey, let us renew our commitment to unity, peaceful coexistence, and active civic engagement. Together, we can build a stronger, more prosperous nation where the dividends of democracy are felt by all.”
