…says democracy delivering results

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has commended President Bola Tinubu and Governor Hyacinth Alia for what it described as their commitment to deepening democracy, strengthening institutions and delivering the dividends of good governance to Nigerians.

In a Democracy Day statement issued on Thursday, the Benue APC Chairman, Chief Benjamin Omale, said the occasion remains a historic reminder of the triumph of the people’s democratic will and the sacrifices made by patriots who fought for the restoration and sustenance of democratic rule in Nigeria.

Omale said, “Today, we pay tribute to the heroes and heroines of democracy whose sacrifices, resilience, and commitment to justice laid the foundation for the democratic freedoms and constitutional governance we enjoy today,” while also saluting Nigerians for their continued faith in democratic governance and national unity.

The party congratulated President Tinubu on the celebration, praising his administration for strengthening democratic institutions, promoting national cohesion and implementing reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

According to the APC chairman, the President has demonstrated visionary leadership through policies aimed at repositioning the economy and improving national development.

The statement noted that the Federal Government had taken bold steps to improve critical infrastructure, enhance security, attract investment and lay a foundation for sustainable economic growth and prosperity for future generations.

The Benue APC also used the occasion to celebrate Governor Alia’s administration, describing his leadership as transformative and people-centred. Omale said the governor had continued to redefine governance in the state through accountability, transparency and policies targeted at improving the welfare of citizens.

He stated that since assuming office, Governor Alia had embarked on extensive infrastructural development, including road construction and rehabilitation, improvement of public facilities, expansion of educational infrastructure and revitalisation of healthcare institutions, alongside reforms in the public service.

The party further credited the governor’s investments in agriculture, youth empowerment, human capital development, security and rural development for creating opportunities for economic growth and improving the living conditions of residents.

It added that prudent resource management had restored public confidence in government and strengthened the relationship between leadership and the people.

While expressing appreciation to traditional rulers, religious leaders, security agencies, civil society groups, the media and other stakeholders for their roles in sustaining democracy, the APC reaffirmed its support for both President Tinubu and Governor Alia.

The party also urged Nigerians to remain united, law-abiding and committed to the ideals of democracy, justice, peace and national development, stressing that collective efforts would help build a stronger and more prosperous Benue state and Nigeria.
