The Maser Foundation has unveiled plans to build a Pan-African volunteer network aimed at supporting communities, strengthening grassroots development, and expanding the reach of its social impact initiatives across the continent.

The initiative, founded under the leadership of Prateek Suri, Chairman of Maser Group and CEO of MDR Investments, seeks to bring together volunteers from diverse backgrounds who share a common goal of contributing to community development and social progress.

Beginning in Nigeria and expanding into other African countries over time, the programme will recruit students, professionals, healthcare workers, educators, entrepreneurs, and community leaders to participate in projects focused on education, healthcare, women empowerment, humanitarian relief, and skills development.

The foundation believes that volunteers can play a critical role in bridging the gap between charitable organisations and local communities. By working directly on the ground, volunteers can help identify needs, monitor project outcomes, and ensure that support reaches intended beneficiaries effectively.

While the programme represents a new chapter for the foundation, its roots can be traced back to lessons that influenced Suri from an early age.

Growing up, Suri recalls accompanying his mother to charitable organisations, blind schools, and community centres. At the time, he admits he did not always appreciate those visits and often struggled to understand why they were important.

As his career evolved and he built businesses across international markets, those childhood experiences took on a different meaning. He came to view philanthropy not as an obligation but as a responsibility that accompanies opportunity and success.

According to people familiar with the foundation’s work, Suri often emphasises that financial success alone does not define a meaningful life. Instead, he believes lasting impact comes from creating opportunities for others and contributing to society in a practical way.

These values became the foundation for the creation of the Maser Foundation, which has since supported initiatives across multiple sectors and communities.

The newly announced volunteer network is intended to expand that mission by creating a structured platform for individuals who wish to contribute their time, skills, and experience. The organisation hopes the programme will encourage greater participation in community development while strengthening collaboration between local stakeholders and charitable organisations.

Foundation representatives say the long-term vision is to establish one of Africa’s most active volunteer communities, capable of supporting projects across multiple countries while maintaining a strong focus on local leadership and community involvement.

As Africa’s influence and population continue to grow, the foundation believes volunteer-driven initiatives will become increasingly important in addressing social challenges and creating sustainable development outcomes.

For Prateek Suri, the volunteer network is not simply a philanthropic initiative. It is an extension of a belief formed over many years, that true success is not measured by what one accumulates, but by what one contributes back to society.

Through the Maser Foundation, that belief is now being translated into action across Africa.
