A postgraduate student of Oil and Gas with Energy Management at the University of East London, UEL, Daniel Olatunji, has emerged as the Director of Diaspora and International Students Affairs of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS.

Speaking on his new position, Olatunji pledged to champion inclusive governance.

On his vision for the office, Olatunji emphasized that his administration would be guided by transparency, accessibility, accountability, and meaningful engagement with Nigerian students across the diaspora.

“My leadership will be defined by service, inclusion, and results. Every Nigerian student in the diaspora deserves to be heard, represented, and supported. Together, we will build a community where no student feels forgotten and every voice contributes to shaping our collective future,” he stated.

He acknowledged the challenges faced by many international students, including delays in accessing consular services, immigration-related concerns, welfare issues, academic pressures, and limited access to professional opportunities. According to him, addressing these challenges through practical interventions and strategic partnerships will be among the key priorities of his tenure.

Olatunji further revealed plans to strengthen communication between students and relevant stakeholders, promote student welfare initiatives, and create opportunities that support the academic, professional, and personal development of Nigerian students abroad.

As a Nigerian student currently studying in London, he noted that his experiences have provided him with firsthand insight into the realities and aspirations of students in the diaspora. He expressed his commitment to ensuring that the Directorate remains accessible, responsive, and reflective of the diverse needs of the community it serves.

He concluded by calling on Nigerian students across the world to actively participate in shaping the future of the diaspora student community through collaboration, constructive engagement, and shared responsibility.
