A consensus meeting of leaders, executives, stakeholders, and aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ward 5, Iperu Remo, Ikenne Local Government Area, was held ahead of the forthcoming by-election scheduled for June 6, 2026, to fill the vacant position of Councillor representing the ward.
The meeting commenced with a formal call to order and opening prayers, after which party leaders deliberated on the need to preserve unity and maintain the longstanding peace within the ward.
Presiding over the meeting, Leader Oyekoya Bama commended members for the successful conduct of the ward congress and encouraged party faithful to continue promoting peace, cooperation, and harmony within the party.
He reiterated the party’s commitment to continuity and progress, noting that consultations had been conducted regarding the forthcoming by-election.
During deliberations, the names of interested aspirants were presented and following consultations and discussions, stakeholders agreed to adopt Hon. Monsuru Osho (Oshopey) as the consensus candidate of APC Ward 5 for the forthcoming by-election.
Leaders noted Hon. Osho’s longstanding commitment to the party and recalled his previous decision to step down in a past contest in the interest of party unity.
Participants reaffirmed their support for the consensus arrangement and emphasized the importance of respecting established party structures and decisions reached through consultation.
The meeting stressed that APC Ward 5 remains united and committed to democratic engagement, collective decision-making, and the promotion of peace within the party.
Stakeholders also highlighted the importance of maintaining harmony among party members, particularly the youth constituency, and encouraged continued cooperation to strengthen the party’s presence in the local government.
Consequently, party leaders and members appealed to key APC leaders in Ogun State, including Governor Dapo Abiodun, former Governor Olusegun Osoba, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), APC State Chairman Chief Yemi Sanusi, Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, and members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), to support efforts aimed at sustaining peace, unity, and stability within APC Ward 5 and Ikenne Local Government.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment by attendees to work collectively for the success of Hon. Monsuru Osho and the APC in the forthcoming by-election while upholding peace, discipline, and respect for party processes.
