2027: Coalition of politicians bring Iduoriyekenmwen into Edo South senatorial district contest

IN what looked like a preparation for what would happen in the Edo South Senatorial District, a Committee of Friends from Labour Party (LP), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have purchased a senatorial for a prominent politician, Hon Matthew Iduoriyekemwen to contest the Edo South Senatorial District.

The Committee of Friends of Iduoriyekemwen said they want him to run on the platform of the ADC and unite the people of the district.

The decision by these people is not far fetched from the crisis in the All Progressives Congress (APC) where it is alleged that Governor Monday Okpebholo in consonance with the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike planned to foist an aspirant on the party rather than allowing the members of the party to choose who they want as their candidate.

Speaking when the friends presented the forms to the media, Rita Ebiuwa Ogiamen of the ADC said they agreed that Iduoriyekenmwen has the capacity “that is why we The Committee of Friends of Iduoriyekemwen came together and agreed that in this election, he is the only one from Edo South that can really give us that voice that we need at the National Assembly.

“We decided that we are purchasing the form for him, he must come and run so that he will represent the Benin Nation, he will give voice to Edo South,

“We contributed our hard earned money to tell him the need for him to run. Although he is contesting under the ADC, this is not a political party issue because those of us here are from different political differences but we believe he is the one that can give us a credible voice.”

Also speaking, Blessing Agho of the Labour Party said Iduoriyemwen has impacted on the lives of the people and “you are all aware of the crisis in Edo South today so we need a unifier, we need a strong voice, we need somebody who will be able to bring everybody together.”

On his part, Tosan Ailodion of the PDP said
Edo South is not in an encouraging situation, “we have a senator who does not even know that he is a senator. We want a senator that will stand and unify Edo South. Some us here today, you cannot write our story without Hon Matthew Iduoriyekenmwen being mentioned, we will all mobilise for him to ensure that he wins the election

Also, Mrs Sandra Aimufwa said she has known Iduoriyekemwmen since 1999 and he is a leader that will represent the people well while Ekundayo Collins also of the ADC said they are ready to surmount any obstacle that they may encounter in the project.
