He won a crown, built businesses, earned a Paul Harris Fellow title, and is now the President Elect of Rotary Club of Shomolu District 9112. Here is why Nigeria is not paying enough attention to this man.
There are people who achieve one great thing and spend the rest of their lives talking about it. And then there are people like Johnson Omeiza Alabi, better known as Jodrey Banks , who keep stacking wins so quietly that the world is only just beginning to catch up.
In 2020, Jodrey walked into the Mr Ideal Nigeria competition representing Abuja and walked out as the winner, beating 39 finalists to claim the title as a first timer in the industry. That alone would have been enough for most people. But for Jodrey, it was just the beginning.
Fast forward to 2026, and this man is now the President Elect of the Rotary Club of Shomolu for the 2027/2028 rotary year under District 9112. Let that sink in. The same guy who modeled his way to national relevance is now leading one of the most respected service organizations in the world at the district level.
When Jodrey joined the Rotary Club of Shomolu on March 16, 2023, it was not by accident. He has spoken openly about how he came to the decision after learning that global icons like Bill Gates and Aliko Dangote are Rotarians. For him, the company a person keeps says everything about who they are becoming.
“Rotary is the best foundation in the world right now ” he has said. “It brings like-minded individuals together to do good and give back to the society.”
That philosophy of like-mindedness is clearly something Jodrey takes seriously. He did not just show up and collect a membership card. He got to work.
Since joining, Jodrey has donated close to $10,000 to Rotary causes both locally and Internationally. He has sponsored multiple Rotary events and previously chaired the Youth Service Committee, Public Image commitee, Membership Commitee and so on, running projects focused on skills development and leadership for young Nigerians. Now, as President Elect for 2026/2027, he is taking that commitment to an entirely new level.
He is also a bonafide Paul Harris Fellow (PHF), one of Rotary International’s most recognized honors, awarded to individuals who make significant financial donations to the Rotary Foundation. It is not a title handed out casually. It means something.
Jodrey is not just a philanthropist who runs a club. He is also a serial entrepreneur. He is the CEO of Starke Fitness and Power Shell, and he doubles as a Business Development Manager. In 2024, he received the “Prize for Business” from House of Twitch for his outstanding achievements in entrepreneurship.
In May 2025, he was officially appointed Patron of Mr Ideal Nigeria at a grand coronation ceremony held at Swiss International, The Vistana, VGC, Lagos, a recognition that honored his contributions to fashion, fitness, and youth empowerment.
It is a full-circle moment that tells you everything about how Jodrey operates. He does not abandon the platforms that shaped him. He returns to them, more equipped, to shape others.
This is a specific kind of leader Nigeria needs more of right now. Not the type who chases cameras or fights for credit, but the quiet architect. The one who shows up consistently, builds real structures, and mentors the next person in line.
That is the profile Jodrey fits. Reflecting on his role as Patron of Mr Ideal Nigeria, he said: “It is an honor to return to the platform that gave me exposure, now in a position to guide others. I hope to inspire the contestants to dream bigger, work harder, and see themselves not just as models, but as leaders and changemakers.”
Those words are not PR. They are consistent with a track record that spans fitness entrepreneurship, Rotary leadership, youth empowerment, pageantry, and philanthropy. Jodrey walks what he talks.
At a time when many young Nigerians are still figuring out what lane to stay in, Johnson Omeiza Alabi is already operating in several, and thriving in all of them. The model became a businessman. The businessman became a philanthropist. The philanthropist became a Rotary Club President.
There is a word for that kind of trajectory. It is called purpose.
And if you have not been paying attention to Jodrey Banks, now would be a good time to start. Because the story is only getting better from here.
