Move to Impact NGO transforms Lagos students’ back-to-school experience

As preparations intensify for its highly anticipated 9th edition, youth-driven nonprofit Move to Impact (MTI) has once again demonstrated its commitment to grassroots change with a meaningful back-to-school outreach in Lagos.

Led by Oyebanjo Ayomidipupo, popularly known as BME, the initiative impacted over 100 students by providing new shoes alongside essential learning materials — a gesture that went beyond physical support to restore confidence and dignity.

The outreach, organised by the MTI team, focused on students from underserved communities, many of whom arrived wearing visibly worn-out footwear. While the need was apparent, the mission extended deeper — to remind these young individuals of their worth and potential.

“It was an emotional experience for us,” a team member shared. “We were welcomed with shy smiles, laughter, and shoes that had clearly gone through a lot. Some of the children were managing pairs that were either too tight, too loose, or almost worn out — but their dreams were still very much alive.”

For Move to Impact, replacing those shoes symbolised something far greater than a simple donation.

“It wasn’t just about giving them new shoes,” the team added. “It was about restoring their confidence — giving them the courage to walk boldly into their future. You could literally see the change in their posture, their smiles, their energy.”

In addition to footwear, the students received books and other educational materials, reinforcing MTI’s holistic approach to youth development — one that combines both emotional empowerment and academic support.

This outreach is part of the organisation’s broader vision to create lasting impact through intentional, community-focused interventions that address real needs at the grassroots level.

With momentum building, Move to Impact is now set to host its 9th edition on May 15th in Ibadan. The upcoming event is expected to bring together young people from different backgrounds for a day of mentorship, empowerment, and transformative conversations.

As MTI continues to expand its reach, one thing remains clear — its mission goes beyond charity. It is about restoring hope, igniting belief, and equipping the next generation with the confidence to dream bigger and do more.
