BOMADI — Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Tuesday commissioned the 31-kilometre Bomadi-Ohoror road, a long-awaited project that had previously caused significant hardship for traders and residents in the Bomadi, Patani, Burutu, and Ughelli local government areas of Delta State.

At the commissioning ceremony in Bomadi, the governor reaffirmed his commitment to improving connectivity in riverine communities, stressing the strategic socio-economic importance of the road.

“Today is a day of excitement. This 31-kilometre Bomadi-Ohoror road links several communities and will positively impact people living in riverine areas. We are changing the development narrative in these communities, which are the breadbasket of the nation,” Gov. Oborevwori said.

He also pledged the completion of the Ayakoromo Bridge project, initiated in 2013, within his tenure and highlighted the ongoing rehabilitation of the Bomadi-Gbaregolor road across Bomadi, Burutu, and Ughelli South local government areas.

Residents Praise Governor

The people of Bomadi LGA, who turned out in large numbers, commended the governor for the road project. Hon. Rawlings Dagidi Andaye, Executive Chairman of Bomadi LGA, lauded Oborevwori for reviving development in the riverine area after over a decade without major projects.

Hon. Nicholas Ebomo Mutu, representing Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency, described the governor as “a man of vision and passion” and praised his inclusive governance approach.

Hon. Kenneth Oboro Preyor, representing Bomadi Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, said the commissioning of the Bomadi-Ohoror road effectively concluded Gov. Oborevwori’s campaign for the 2027 elections in the area, noting that the project restored socio-economic activities and earned the governor the goodwill of residents.

The event concluded with the official commissioning of the road amidst fanfare, celebrations, and accolades from community leaders and residents.
