As preparations intensify for the 20th anniversary edition of the Africa International Housing Show (AIHS), the organisers have unveiled a series of innovative programmes designed to transform the 2026 edition into a legacy platform for sustainable housing solutions across Africa.

Scheduled to hold from 13th to 18th July, 2026 at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, this year’s edition themed “Housing Solutions for Low Income and Informal Workers in Africa” will go beyond the traditional conference and exhibition format to introduce dynamic industry-driven engagements aimed at promoting innovation, investment and youth participation in housing delivery.

Speaking on the significance of the milestone edition, the Executive Director of Housing Development Advocacy Network (HDAN) and Founder of the Africa International Housing Show, Festus Adebayo, stated that the 20th anniversary presents an opportunity to reposition AIHS as a practical solutions platform for Africa’s housing deficit.
According to him, “AIHS @20 Legacy Edition will not just celebrate two decades of industry impact, but will introduce innovative activities that promote technology-driven housing development, youth participation and investment partnerships that can drive large-scale delivery of affordable housing across the continent.”
Among the new initiatives to be featured at AIHS @20 are:
AIHS Innovation Zones showcasing cutting-edge housing technologies, alternative building materials and smart construction solutions.
A Pan-African Housing Hackathon aimed at mobilising young professionals and startups to develop scalable housing solutions for low-income and informal workers.
A dedicated Investment Deal Room to facilitate structured business-to-business meetings between developers, financiers, government agencies and international partners.
The AIHS Future Leaders Forum, designed to promote youth inclusion through the newly established AIHS Professional Youth Club.
Live Construction Demonstration Arena where artisans and manufacturers will showcase innovative installation techniques and modern building systems.
An International Country Pavilion to encourage global participation and technology transfer.
The AIHS Housing Policy Lab, which will host high-level closed-door engagements between government institutions, developers and housing finance stakeholders, culminating in the AIHS @20 Housing Policy Communiqué.
The Legacy Edition will also feature a Special Innovation Awards segment to recognise organisations and individuals pioneering new solutions in affordable housing, sustainable construction and digital housing finance.
Adebayo added that the introduction of these programmes reflects AIHS’ commitment to shaping the next phase of Africa’s housing development through collaboration, innovation and policy engagement.
“For 20 years, AIHS has remained the meeting point for stakeholders in Africa’s housing and construction sector. This legacy edition is designed to move conversations into actionable partnerships and investments that will improve housing access for millions of Africans,” he said.
The Africa International Housing Show is Africa’s largest housing and construction event, bringing together over 40,000 participants annually from more than 21 countries including developers, manufacturers, financial institutions, policymakers and international development.
