Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has urged the newly elected executives of the All Progresssive Congress, APC, Lagos Chapter to discharge thier responsibilites with diligence, fairness and strong commitment to upholding the values and principles of the party.
Sanwo-Olu spoke on Tuesday at the party’s Lagos congress held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos.
The elected executives include, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi as Chairman; Mr Moshood Mayegun, Deputy Chairman, Adeola Jokomba, Secretary;and Mr Oluseye Oladejo Publicity Secretary.
Others officials include the Legal Adviser, Mrs Folashade Bakare as TreasurerMr Abiodun Ayigbe as Treasurer; Mr Banjo Adedoyin-Wasiu as Financial Secretary; Mr Ayodele Adewale as Organising Secretary; and Mr Seriki Muritala as Youth Leader, among others.
About 2000 delegates drawn from across the state returned Mr. Cornelius Ojelabi as Chairman and other relected officials via a consensus arrangement at the congress
While speaking, Sanwo-Olu charged the new party executives with the responsibility of making the party a nantional reference point through diligence and dedication duties.
He said ” You have to take this party in Lagos state to a level that it becomes a national reference state party. A national reference state party in ensuring that inclusivity, fairness, equity and justice is at play at all times.
“A party that ensures that there’s room and space for everyone that wants to be part of our house, and that the tenets and the objective of the party, you hold on to it.”
Delivering his acceptance speech, Chairman APC lagos State Chapter, Mr. Cornelius Ojelabi expressed his gratitude to party members for privileged give to him to serve for another term.
He highlighted the party’s strengthened structure and electoral success stating that the achievements positioned APC as “movement for progress”
Ojelabi said “As I reflect on the journey of the past four years, I am filled with pride in all we have accomplished together, from strengthening our party structure to securing victories at IPUs,”
Ojelabi described the upcoming elections as an opportunity to showcase the partys unity and collective resolve, adding that members should deepen engagement, remain steadfast, and work collaboratively to sustain good governance and sustainable development for the people.
He said “The future of Lagos State and Nigeria depends on our dedication and our ability to work together,”
“Let us strengthen our bonds, reach out to every community, and ensure that no voice is left unheard and no hand is left idle in this mission.”
The event was attended by APC leaders, including the state deputy governor, Obafemi Hamzat; members of the Governance Advisory Council; former and serving senators; and members of the House of Representatives, among others.
Also present at the congress were former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode; former Deputy Governor Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire; Anthony Adefuye; Gbenga Ashafa; Olorunnimbe Mamora, among others.
