The Organisation of African Instituted Churches (OAIC), Lagos State chapter, has called on Christian women across Nigeria to take on more strategic roles in promoting the growth of the Gospel and strengthening ecumenical unity in the country.

The charge was given during a courtesy and congratulatory visit to Her Grace, Dr. Oluseye Yomi-Sholoye, Iya Aladura General and Founder of the New Seraph Evangelical Ministry, in recognition of her contribution to the successful completion of the Lagos State Secretariat of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), where a floor was named in her honour.

Speaking during the visit, OAIC Lagos State Chairman, His Eminence Apostle General Olugbenga J. Opasola, described Dr. Yomi-Sholoye as an exceptional mother of faith whose leadership and support for Christian unity have had far-reaching impact.

Drawing parallels with the biblical figure Priscilla in Acts 18, Opasola noted that women have historically played critical roles in the advancement of the Christian faith. He said Dr. Yomi-Sholoye’s dedication to mentoring, church growth, and ecumenical collaboration reflects the kind of leadership needed to strengthen the Christian community in Nigeria.

According to him, Christian women must rise beyond traditional roles and contribute meaningfully to initiatives that foster unity, moral reawakening, and social transformation through faith-based collaboration.

In recognition of her contributions, OAIC Lagos formally declared Dr. Yomi-Sholoye a Grand Patroness of the organisation. Opasola said the honour was in acknowledgment of her humility, dedication, and unwavering commitment to the work of God and the advancement of Christian unity in Lagos State and beyond.

Responding, Dr. Yomi-Sholoye expressed appreciation to the OAIC leadership for the visit and recognition. She maintained that all resources and influence possessed by individuals are gifts from God and should be deployed in service to Him and humanity.

She affirmed that the encouragement from OAIC would further motivate her to deepen her commitment to the Christian community and continue supporting initiatives that strengthen unity and spiritual growth across denominations.

Other members of the OAIC Lagos executive who accompanied the chairman on the visit included Mother Evelyn Madekwe, State Assistant Secretary (Christ Holy Church International), and Superior Evangelist Elijah Ademola Akinyemi, State Welfare Director I (Celestial Church of Christ), among others.
