Arewa leader Saidu hails new IGP Disu

Laud Tinubu on security-focused appointment

Leader of the Arewa community in the south , Alhaji Musa Saidu has congratulated the newly appointed Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, describing his emergence as timely and reassuring for national security.

Saidu in a chat with Vanguard recalled the IG’s tenure in Rivers State as the Commissioner of Police , where he was credited with restoring relative peace and strengthening public confidence in policing through inclusive engagement with critical stakeholders on security matters.

Saidu said the new police chief demonstrated professionalism, humility and a people-oriented approach while serving in Rivers, qualities he said will positively impact policing across the country.
“We are very happy with this appointment. The new IG is a humble and gentle officer who understands the complexities of security management in a diverse society His experience in Rivers State as the Commissioner of Police showed his capacity to engage stakeholders and deliver results.”

The northern leader also expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for what it described as a well-considered decision, noting that the appointment has further strengthened confidence among Nigerians.

“We, the Arewa in the South, sincerely thank Mr President for this appointment. It gives Nigerians hope and reinforces our belief in a united, non-detribalised Nigeria “, he said.

He further called for increased investment in policing, stressing that sustainable security can only be achieved through proper funding and continuous training of officers.

“If the police are well funded and adequately trained, the nation will undoubtedly see better results. Security remains the foundation for national development ” he said.
