The Kaduna State Chapter of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has concluded its 2026 state executive elections in a process described by observers as transparent and credible, resulting in the re-election of Hon. Ahmed Tijjani Mustapha of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as Chairman.

The elections, held after weeks of postponements and debates over candidate eligibility, proceeded peacefully, adhering strictly to IPAC’s constitutional guidelines. Observers from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) commended the inclusiveness and fairness of the process, describing it as a model for inter-party democratic engagement in the state.

Nine key positions were contested, including Chairman, Deputy Chairman, Secretary, Deputy Secretary, Treasurer, Financial Secretary, Organising Secretary, Publicity Secretary, and Legal Adviser. The Electoral Committee, chaired by Hon. Yahaya Makama of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), oversaw the exercise, ensuring verification of party authorization, term eligibility, and compliance with IPAC’s rules.

Despite minor controversies over candidates from disputed party factions—including the Labour Party, Action Alliance (AA), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), and Action Peoples Party (APP)—all issues were resolved according to court rulings and IPAC directives. Voting was conducted in an open but orderly manner, with counting and collation carried out in full view of delegates and observers.

At the conclusion, Hon. Ahmed Tijjani Mustapha secured 11 votes to clinch a second term as Chairman, having previously served only one term. Other elected officials include Ziphora Bijeh Samuel (NRM) as Deputy Chairman; Hon. Adamu Abubakar Idris (SDP) as Secretary; Mrs. Naomi Magaji (APGA) as Deputy Secretary; Hon. Yusuf Solomon Danbaki (Labour Party) as Legal Adviser; Hon. Yahaya Alhassan Marafa (APM) as Treasurer; Joshua Ishaku (ZLP) as Organising Secretary; Hon. Kawu Yakasai (APC) as Financial Secretary; and Mohammed Auwal Yunusa (YP) as Publicity Secretary.

Stakeholders expressed optimism that the newly elected executive council would foster inter-party dialogue, deepen collaboration with INEC, and promote credible electoral practices in Kaduna State ahead of future elections.
