The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has concluded a five-day capacity-building programme on oil and gas project management, scheduling and control for 30 youths in Bayelsa State.
The training, held from February 2 to February 6, 2026, was executed by Stellakee Nigeria Limited and forms part of the board’s ongoing efforts to build the technical capacity of young Nigerians and promote self-reliance and employment within the oil and gas industry.
According to the NCDMB, the initiative aligns with its core mandate of developing local content by equipping indigenous youths with industry-relevant skills required to participate effectively in oil and gas projects.
Participants were trained in key areas such as project estimation, planning and scheduling, as well as advanced project scheduling techniques including the Critical Path Method (CPM) and the Programme Evaluation Review Technique (PERT). The programme also covered integrated project controls, earned value management, performance measurement and project tracking.
The board noted that the training is part of a broader youth empowerment strategy targeted at the Niger Delta region. In 2025 alone, the NCDMB trained over 3,000 youths in diverse skills ranging from mobile telephony repairs, hardware and software development to entrepreneurship.
In addition, the board has partnered with other organisations to provide specialised training in technology-driven skills such as Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) and fire alarm installation and maintenance.
The NCDMB expressed optimism that the latest capacity-building initiative would enable beneficiaries to compete favourably in the oil and gas sector, enhance their employability and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s economic growth and industrial development.
