Behind Repton Group’s emergence as Dangote Cement’s National Largest Distributor lies a story of strategic relationship-building, operational excellence, and the kind of hands-on leadership that has become Odeyeyiwa’s trademark. The cement distribution arm of Repton Group has not only captured the top spot among Dangote Cement distributors nationwide, but it has also maintained that position for two consecutive years while diversifying into comprehensive building materials solutions.

The journey reflects Odeyeyiwa’s unique approach to corporate development. Unlike many executives who focus solely on quarterly numbers, the chartered accountant and certified information systems auditor brings a systems-thinking perspective to business growth. Each partnership, each distribution agreement, each operational decision fits into a larger strategic mosaic.

Odeyeyiwa worked directly with Dangote Group leadership to structure agreements that would optimize supply chains, improve inventory management, and create mutual value. After maintaining second position from 2020 to 2022, Repton Group captured first place in 2023 and successfully defended the title in 2024, even as competition intensified across Nigeria’s booming construction sector.

Beyond Kazab Heritage’s dominance in cement distribution, the conglomerate operates Defrost Ventures Limited, Continental Vision, Kazab Homes and Properties, Ibile Farm, and Kazab Oil and Gas each contributing to an annual turnover exceeding N30 billion.

But Odeyeyiwa’s influence extends beyond balance sheets. A holder of dual MBA degrees, multiple professional fellowships, and an alumnus of Lagos Business School’s Advanced Management Programme, he represents a new generation of Nigerian business leaders who combine international education with deep local market knowledge.

The company’s track record reinforces this assessment. Before dominating Dangote Cement distribution, Repton Group held the title of National Largest Distributor of Lafarge Cement in both 2017 and 2020 a remarkable achievement given that the two cement giants are fierce competitors. Managing strong relationships with both brands simultaneously requires diplomatic skill and operational excellence that few organizations can match.

These major distribution agreements with both Lafarge and Dangote representing hundreds of billions of naira in product movement were secured through Odeyeyiwa’s direct negotiations and relationship management. His financial background, honed during senior roles at multinational corporations like Kimberly-Clark, equipped him with the analytical tools to structure deals that worked for all stakeholders.

Looking ahead, Odeyeyiwa shows no signs of slowing down. Recent reports indicate Repton Group is exploring expansion opportunities in renewable energy and advanced agricultural technology, leveraging its existing infrastructure and partnership networks. It is that mindset equal parts humility and hunger that transformed a company repeatedly finishing second into Nigeria’s undisputed leader in cement distribution.
