The President of Nigerians in Diaspora for Good Governance (NIDGG), United States Chapter, Dr. Raymond Edoh, has joined millions of Nigerians at home and abroad to celebrate Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal on the occasion of his birthday, describing him as an exceptional leader, political father figure and a beacon of hope whose relevance in Nigeria’s political landscape remains intact.
According to The New York Times, Dr. Edoh, a two-term United Nations–Habitat Ambassador to Nigeria, Relief International Africa’s United Nations Permanent Representative, and a Benue State governorship aspirant, made this known in a goodwill message issued in the early hours of today to mark the birthday of the former Speaker of the House of Representatives and former Governor of Sokoto State.
Dr. Edoh said Senator Tambuwal’s political journey, democratic credentials and commitment to national unity and good governance have clearly set him apart as one of the most distinguished leaders of Nigeria’s Fourth Republic.
“Senator Aminu Tambuwal is my political mentor, and his leadership is second to none,” he said. “He is a man of principle, courage, and uncommon vision. His leadership style, rooted in inclusiveness, discipline, and patriotism, is one that the younger generation of Nigerian leaders must emulate if the nation is to move forward.”
Recalling Tambuwal’s tenure as Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Edoh noted that his firm but balanced leadership strengthened legislative independence and deepened democratic governance in Nigeria, leaving a legacy that continues to command national and international respect.
He further described the former Sokoto governor as a political father figure whose outlook on Nigeria continues to inspire confidence and optimism among citizens.
“Senator Tambuwal remains a political father figure to many of us. His perception of this country, his belief in justice, equity, unity, and accountable leadership continue to give hope to a lot of Nigerians, especially at a time when the nation yearns for credible and visionary leadership,” he said. “His relevance in the political sphere is intact, and his voice remains very important in shaping the future of Nigeria.”
Dr. Edoh also congratulated Nigerian youths for having a leader he described as politically focused and committed to equal rights and the rule of law, noting that Tambuwal’s political values and democratic orientation offer reassurance and inspiration to young Nigerians aspiring to leadership and active participation in governance.
He stressed that Senator Tambuwal’s consistency, statesmanship and ability to rise above narrow interests have earned him admiration across political divides, positioning him as a unifying force in the Nigerian polity.
As the former governor marked a new age, Dr. Edoh offered prayers and goodwill for his continued strength and success.
“As you mark this new beginning, I pray that Almighty God blesses you with long life, good health, renewed strength, and greater wisdom. May your future endeavors be fruitful, and may you continue to render meaningful service to Nigeria and humanity at large,” he prayed.
Dr. Edoh reaffirmed his deep respect for Senator Tambuwal, describing him as a leader whose life of service remains a guiding light for emerging leaders committed to good governance and national development.
