The ancient city of Aboh Kingdom in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State came alive with pomp and pageantry last week as His Imperial Majesty, Dr. Greg Nnamdi Oputa III, the Obi of Aboh, celebrated his 60th birthday anniversary alongside the first year of his reign.

The landmark celebration drew a large gathering of dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, traditional rulers from across the state, political leaders, and guests from within and outside the country.

Speaking as the Special Guest of Honour, Onyeme commended the people of Aboh Kingdom for their steadfast support for the Obi and urged them to sustain the prevailing peace in the kingdom, describing it as the foundation for rapid and sustainable development.

According to the Deputy Governor, the return of peace to Aboh Kingdom has already laid the groundwork for accelerated growth, noting that within just one year on the throne, the Obi has successfully united his people and promoted harmonious coexistence.

“Without peace, sustainable progress is impossible. Some months ago, when I visited Aboh, we emphasized that once peace is achieved in a kingdom, development becomes faster and more sustainable. Today, I can confidently say there is peace in Aboh Kingdom, and I am certain the kingdom will progress beyond expectations in the coming years,” Onyeme said.

He described the Obi as a monarch endowed with youthfulness, strength, wisdom, and experience, adding that the traditional ruler has initiated healing, reconciliation, and purposeful leadership within the kingdom.

Onyeme congratulated the monarch on his 60th birthday and prayed for divine wisdom, protection, and strength to continue leading his people successfully.

The celebration featured the cutting of a birthday cake and the presentation of the Obi’s biography, “The Crown and the Call,” a book aimed at inspiring present and future generations to view leadership as a divine calling anchored on service, integrity, responsibility, and legacy.

In his remarks, Obi Oputa expressed profound gratitude to God for guiding his life and reign, noting that his journey to the throne was by divine will and not human effort. He thanked God for 60 years of good health and urged his subjects and guests to embrace Jesus Christ, whom he described as the true source of peace, life, and prosperity.

“I am the most blessed man in the world. My greatest blessing is not material; it is within. You can take everything from me, but you cannot take Jesus,” the monarch declared.

He assured the gathering that Aboh Kingdom would experience remarkable transformation in the coming years, expressing confidence that the ongoing peace would usher in development, unity, and prosperity across the kingdom.
