….Launches “A letter to all women”

The Founder, Women for Social and Rural Development Initiative, Mrs Helen Edesiri Majemite, has described the role of women in the society as very fundamental to societal growth, and that when a woman is able to rediscover herself, a family, a community and even a nation rises.

She stated this in Lagos during the official launch and public presentation of her book “A letter to all women.”

She therefore appealed to the society to support every effort intended to make women realize their potential, just as she admonished women not to belittle their efforts or see themselves playing second fiddle in the scheme of things in the society.

“Today, I stand here with a heart full of gratitude, excitement, and purpose.

A purpose that has been shaped by the women I have met, the stories I have lived, and the silent prayers I have whispered on nights when life felt heavy — yet hope refused to let me go.

“This book, A Letter to All Women, did not begin as a project. It began as a burden — a calling. A calling to speak to the woman who is always strong for others…but rarely given permission to pause and be strong for herself.

“To the woman who is finding her way after loss…To the mother who is juggling responsibilities in silence…To the young woman questioning her worth…To the woman who is rebuilding from financial setbacks, trauma, heartbreak, or self-doubt…

“Every chapter carries a piece of my own battles and victories — and the stories of countless women who have fought through storms and refused to quit. I wrote this book because I believe that when a woman rediscovers herself, a family rises… a community rises… and a nation rises.”

Speaking on the Women’s Leadership Camp Initiative, Majemite said it is to rebuild identity, strengthen emotional resilience, cultivate leadership capacity, equip women with financial skills and opportunities and restore dignity and hope.

She added that the initiative is giving women more than tools, adding “we are giving them a fresh chance to rise again.”

She disclosed plan to partner with state governments to allow more women to benefit from the initiative.

She added that the next camp would take place in the first quarter of next year when schools are on holiday.

Giving her keynote address, Mrs Thelma Ekiyor Solanke, commended the vision and courage of Majemite.

She also noted that women are already serving as agents of change and that they don’t need permission from anybody to do so.

In her remarks, Adiya Uri Ngozichukwuka, lauded women for their resilience in the face of many daunting challenges.

A panel session featuring Yemisi Peters as the moderator and Dr Chinyere Almona, Dr Patrick Ijewere and Folorunsho Gbadamosi as panelists discussed the theme”Women leadership and resilience: What we need to build next.”

They described women as pillars of the society that must be extolled.

They also charged women to embrace their own uniqueness and further develop problem solving skills.
