Energy Transfer HS Limited has expanded its footprint in Nigeria’s natural gas sector with the acquisition of a 48% working interest in the Kugbo West Marginal Field, marking a major step in the company’s upstream growth strategy.
The transaction, completed on December 8, 2025, was executed in partnership with Prime Horizon Energy, its drilling and technical services collaborator.
Following the acquisition, Energy Transfer HS announced a planned investment of $120 million over the next two years to accelerate development of the Kugbo West asset. The funding will support drilling activities, enhance production capacity, and upgrade field infrastructure in a bid to maximize output.
According to the Group CEO, Dr. Halima Suleiman, the company remains committed to expanding access to affordable natural gas across Nigeria. She confirmed that Energy Transfer HS is already in discussions with additional asset owners for potential acquisitions in 2026, signaling continued strategic growth.
“Our goal is to broaden our natural gas reserve portfolio and strengthen supply for both domestic and regional African markets,” Dr. Suleiman said, noting that the company has grown into West Africa’s leading CNG distribution provider under her leadership.
Beyond the energy sector, Dr. Suleiman is also known for her philanthropic initiatives through the Nana Halima Empowerment Initiative, which supports women and youth across Northern Nigeria. Her dual contributions to national energy development and humanitarian advancement continue to position her as a key driver of inclusive growth in the country.
