The Federal University Gusau in Zamfara State has officially matriculated 2,123 students for the 2025/2026 academic session.

Speaking at the matriculation ceremony on Wednesday, Vice Chancellor Professor Mu’azu Abubakar said the university received 5,532 applications, of which 2,123 were admitted. He noted that the Faculty of Science recorded the highest intake with 934 students, while the Faculty of Surgery had the lowest at 35 students.

Professor Mu’azu assured that despite security challenges in the state, the university has remained operational and will continue to prioritize the safety of both students and staff. Security measures have been strengthened, including the reconstitution of the university’s security committee, installation of CCTV cameras, deployment of operational vehicles and motorcycles, construction of 18 observational towers and security offices, provision of walkie-talkies, new uniforms, and training workshops for security personnel.

The Vice Chancellor urged matriculated students to be security-conscious, adhere to university regulations, maintain high moral standards, and work diligently, emphasizing that degrees are awarded only to those found worthy in character and learning.
