Lagos – Efforts to challenge stigma around male mental health gained significant momentum on Saturday, November 22, 2025, as HEvolve hosted the second edition of its annual HE Summit in Lagos. The event, held at The Goodland along the Ifako-Oworoshoki Expressway, drew more than 500 men for a day focused on emotional wellbeing, community building and redefining societal expectations of masculinity.

Themed “Empowered Men, Thriving Communities,” the summit featured a series of discussions and mentorship sessions addressing mental wellness, fatherhood, financial stability and faith. According to the convener, Riliwan Amoo, the initiative seeks to dismantle entrenched cultural norms that discourage men from expressing vulnerability.

“The silence is heavy, but men do not have to carry it alone,” Amoo said, noting that this year’s edition expanded on the debut summit with deeper conversations and structured emotional support.

Speakers delivered a mix of personal reflections and practical guidance. Mohammed Ahmed encouraged attendees to embrace emotional and personal growth, saying, “Beyond normal functioning, we are meant to thrive. Beyond thriving, we are meant to flourish.” Leadership consultant Ferdy Adimefe stressed the importance of present and engaged fatherhood, while Dr. Tewa Onasanya urged men to communicate openly rather than suppress emotions.

This year’s summit introduced new components, including mental health check-ins, networking hubs, mentorship circles and prostate health advocacy. HEvolve also highlighted its expanding programmes, including the HEvolve Companion, which offers free access to mental health professionals, and the Boys2Men and campus mental health tours.

Participants described the event as a rare opportunity to speak freely about personal struggles. “This was the first time I felt safe enough to open up in a room full of men,” one attendee said.

Amoo announced that planning for HE Summit 3.0 is already underway, with organisers promising a larger platform for honest and healing-centered dialogue next year.
