ENUGU — A prominent political pressure group in Enugu State, the Ifediche Political Family, has called for stronger support for the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, crediting his leadership with repositioning the party as an attractive platform for politicians nationwide.

The group, known for its grassroots mobilization efforts, also vowed to work toward the reelection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Peter Mbah in 2027.

Speaking during the inauguration of the group’s ward and local government executives in Achi, Oji River Local Government Area, founder Dr. Ezenwa A. A. Onyirimba urged members to intensify rural mobilization to strengthen the party’s presence across the state.

The group passed a vote of confidence on Prof. Yilwatda, noting that he has stabilized the party’s national structure and curtailed previous internal disputes. Members also endorsed his continuity in office, calling for his reelection at the party’s next convention “to sustain peace and ensure victory for the APC in 2027 and beyond.”

Dr. Onyirimba said the formal launch of the Ifediche Political Family in the area would help consolidate ongoing efforts to strengthen the party across the 41 wards of the Aninri/Awgu/Oji River Federal Constituency.

He assured loyal party supporters that their contributions would not go unrewarded and expressed satisfaction with the “new political realignments” in Enugu State, which he said have opened doors for Governor Mbah and several stakeholders from the PDP to join the APC. He urged members to welcome the newcomers and work with them harmoniously.

“Initially, we were not given any chance; we were seen as political enemies of Ndigbo. But things have changed—our party, the APC, is now accepted in Igbo land, including Enugu,” he said. “I thank you for your perseverance and hard work and encourage you to continue that way.”

He added that under Prof. Yilwatda’s leadership, the APC remains committed to the progress and welfare of its supporters, especially those who have been with the party from inception. He said the core philosophy of the Ifediche Political Family is rooted in welfare and collective progress, urging members to look after one another and serve as “agents of support and unity” within the party.
