…Reaffirm Support for Hon. Mutu
By Chancel Bomadi Sunday
BOMADI—The All Progressives Congress (APC) Ex-Agitators Forum, in partnership with the Bomadi Political Vanguard, has cautioned political actors in the Ijaw community against practices they say could foster division ahead of the 2027 general elections.
At a peaceful demonstration held over the weekend in Bomadi, headquarters of Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State, leaders of both groups urged politicians to avoid actions capable of creating disunity. They encouraged issue-based engagements rather than negative campaigning.
The protesters, carrying various placards, marched through the town before converging at the Bomadi Roundabout. Their messages included: “Engage the electorate, stop campaigns of calumny,” “Hon. Mutu has the constitutional right to contest,” “We endorse Mutu for 2027,” and “Mutu is a man of the people.”
Speaking during the rally, Hon. Roland Agbere, leader of the Bomadi Political Vanguard, said the group—made up of concerned youths across the local government—would continue to highlight the contributions of the incumbent lawmaker, Hon. Mutu.
He noted: “Hon. Mutu has consistently delivered quality representation, and we will continue to support his efforts. Political actors should engage the people directly rather than resort to negative propaganda. Our endorsement for the 2027 general elections remains for Hon. Mutu, who has shown reliability and capacity over the years.”
Chairman of the APC Ex-Agitators Forum, General Para Ekiyes, appealed for unity among the Ijaw. He urged political aspirants to adhere to democratic principles and maintain decorum in their engagements.
He added that members of the APC Ex-Agitators Forum had reviewed the performance of the current representative for Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency and commended his contributions.
According to him: “Ijaw stands for truth and unity. We must avoid actions that create division. Those seeking office should appeal to the electorate rather than rely on slander or misinformation. Hon. Mutu has shown commitment to the constituents and the larger Ijaw community, and we affirm our support for his re-election in 2027.”
He also called for restraint in political engagements involving State Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, encouraging all players to preserve existing cordial relationships for the good of the constituency.
Other speakers, including women’s groups, expressed confidence in Hon. Mutu’s leadership and urged continuity in representation.
