Ashake Foundation has officially launched a new phase of its women empowerment initiative, the Ashake Skill and Knowledge Acquisition Project, ASKAP, aimed at equipping selected young mothers in Abuja with the skills, knowledge, and mentorship needed to improve their income and build sustainable livelihoods.

Supported by the Itsk Toleram Foundation, ASKAP provides participants with practical vocational skills training, basic financial literacy, and business guidance. The program also offers ongoing mentorship, helping participants transition from training to income-generating opportunities, ensuring lasting growth and independence.

Building on the proven Nwa-Girl Apprenticeship Model, ASKAP combines hands-on learning with peer mentorship and community support. This approach ensures participants are not only trained but also guided to apply their skills effectively, fostering economic resilience within their communities.

Mrs. Mayowa Adegbile, Founder of Ashake Foundation, explained the vision behind the initiative:
“We realised that many young mothers are talented and hardworking, but often lack access to the right opportunities and guidance. ASKAP was created to bridge that gap, giving women not just skills, but also the confidence, knowledge, and community support they need to succeed.”

Adegbile expressed sincere gratitude to the Itsk Toleram Foundation for their partnership in bringing ASKAP to life.

The collaboration, according to her, reflects a shared commitment to empowering women, strengthening families, and promoting sustainable economic growth.

“Through ASKAP, Ashake Foundation hopes to continue to advance its mission to reduce poverty, promote gender equality, and create sustainable pathways for women to thrive across Nigeria,” she explained.

The program was officially launched on November 5, 2025, with an orientation for the first cohort of beneficiaries in Durumi, Abuja.
