Ambassador of the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) Ossai Ifeanyi is set to participate in the 2025 World Bank Group/International Monetary Fund Annual Meetings scheduled to hold in Washington D.C. from October, 2025.

The high-level gathering will bring together heads of state, ministers of finance, development economists, and civil society actors to deliberate on global development finance, debt relief, climate financing, and multilateral institutional reforms.

Ossai Ifeanyi’s participation comes in his capacity as a member of the Bretton Woods Committee, a global network committed to promoting governance, accountability, and effective engagement with international financial institutions.

The meetings are taking place against the backdrop of rising global debt levels, geopolitical tensions, and mounting climate challenges faced by low- and middle-income economies. According to officials, discussions will likely focus on debt relief frameworks, climate adaptation financing, and mobilizing private capital for development, alongside calls for greater transparency in global financial governance.

Reaffirming priorities for Africa and the Global South, stakeholders are expected to push for policies that expand concessional financing, enhance debt restructuring mechanisms, and increase access to climate funds and technical support for regional development initiatives. Broader themes such as entrepreneurship, industrialization, and capacity-building are also on the agenda.

Analysts note that the outcomes of the meetings could influence ongoing reform efforts within the World Bank and IMF, including potential realignments in resource allocation and governance structures. Ossai’s presence is viewed as part of the larger conversation on how international financial systems can be better aligned with the needs of emerging economies and lower-income nations.

HRH Ambassador Ossai Ifeanyi, a diplomat and advocate of balanced development, has consistently advanced dialogue between international institutions and new economies. He is known for his work in diplomacy, entrepreneurship, and multilateral development initiatives.

Further information on the list of participants, resolutions, and policy directions is expected in the lead-up to the Annual Meetings.
