Nollywood actress Chioma Okafor, known for her role as Kaira in The Choirmaster’s Wife, has partnered with iROKOtv, a leading Nigerian streaming platform, to promote short films by emerging filmmakers.

Announced last week in Lagos, the initiative aims to showcase authentic Nigerian stories from new talent.

Okafor, who debuted in 2018, highlighted the importance of nurturing fresh voices. “Nollywood grows when we support young creators telling our stories,” she said at the launch event. Her role involves curating a selection of short films for iROKOtv’s platform, focusing on themes like cultural heritage and contemporary Nigerian life.

Her career reflects this commitment to authentic storytelling. In Aki and Pawpaw (2021), she played Samantha alongside Osita Iheme and Chinedu Ikedieze, earning a FilmOne Nigeria Box Office Breakthrough Actress nod.

Her role as Uchenna in Domitilla: The Sequel (2023) addressed social issues, while Adaife with Nancy Isime and Alex Cross celebrated Igbo traditions. In My Crazy Ex and Girlfriend, she portrayed Ogechi opposite Maurice Sam, showcasing emotional depth.

Okafor’s journey began with Superstory: Monica (2019), starring alongside Zack Orji. She has since collaborated with veterans like Kanayo O. Kanayo and Patience Ozokwor, as well as younger stars like Uzor Arukwe in Love Duty and Eddie Watson in From a Distance, all available on platforms like iROKOtv and YouTube.
