No fewer than 8 buildings and 3 cars have reportedly been set ablaze as a result of the leadership crisis in Obazagbon community between Paulyn Obayuwana, the Odionwere (leader of the community) and Joshua Edo, the youth chairman.

Residents of Obazagbon community on February 15th 2025, were said to have instantly scampered for safety as sporadic gunshots were heard in the community during the attack.

Earlier on February 15th 2025, the Odionwere’s property and buildings were destroyed and set ablaze by armed thugs in Obazagbon community as the embattled Joshua Edo was accused of sending armed thugs after the Odionwere to destabilise the community by further creating tension and crisis.

In the wake of the wanton destruction of the Odiowere’s property and buildings in Obazagbon community, armed youths in the community in a retaliatory attack later in the evening on February 15th stormed the residence of the youth chairman Joshua Edo where property worth millions of naira were set ablaze as he and his Personal Assistant Ejiro Clinton were said to have immediately fled from the community before the arrival of the armed youths.

Tension in Obazagbon community was said to have recently escalated following accusations and counter-accusations trailing the regime of Joshua Edo and Ejiro Clinton Ubrone, his Personal Assistant.

They were both accused of diverting community funds from sales of community lands into personal use without the prior notice of the elders of the community as well as selling the community town-hall without the approval of the Odionwere .

Similarly, Joshua Edo, whose several acts of illegality in Obazagbon community has reportedly plunged the community into deep crisis, is believed to have the full backings and support of his Personal Assistant Ejiro Clinton Ubrone who on several occasions was accused of misleading Joshua Edo.

The recent tension in Obazagbon community has, however, assumed a dangerous dimension following the recent escape of Joshua Edo from the community as armed thugs on March 1st stormed the residence of his Personal Assistant while he was away with his family during the attack.

His property, worth millions of naira, was destroyed during the attack.

Meanwhile, there seems to be no end in sight to the escalating crisis between the Odionwere and the youth chairman in Ogbazagbon community after the wife of the Personal Assistant, Mrs.Omono Prosperity Ejiro was reportedly shot when armed men on the trail of her husband attacked them in her father’s house on April 24th several weeks after escaping from the crisis in Obazagbon community to seek refuge elsewhere in her father’s house.

However, the armed men were said to have been chased away from the community by local vigilantes who immediately came to their rescue. .
