…Experts, Promoters Chart New Course for Africa’s Beauty Industry as Masters of Beauty Graduates New Students

The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to supporting innovation, economic empowerment, and sustainable livelihoods, including empowering entrepreneurs in the beauty industry. It expressed openness to partnerships and collaborations that expand opportunities, scale ideas, and spotlight Nigerian excellence on the global stage.

The Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, emphasized this commitment during the 2025 Symposium and Graduation Ceremony of the Masters of Beauty Academy—an Abuja-based beauty therapy institute—where she served as the Special Guest of Honour.

The event, hosted by UNNO Health Group under the theme: “Elevating Beauty Industry Standards: The Power of Education, Innovation, and Collaboration”, brought together beauty professionals and stakeholders from across Africa to Abuja.

Represented by her Special Adviser on Strategic Partnerships, Chinny Okoye, the Minister commended the founder of UNNO Health Group, Dr. Hilda Titiloye, for her visionary foresight in establishing a platform that elevates the beauty industry.

“A special thank you to the visionary behind this platform, Hilda, for curating such an important space that celebrates growth, creativity, and business in the beauty sector. Your leadership is deeply appreciated.”

Reflecting on her own experience in the beauty industry, she noted the sector’s tremendous evolution, driven by the resilience and brilliance of Nigerian entrepreneurs.

“The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs remains committed to supporting innovation, economic empowerment, and sustainable livelihoods—including empowering entrepreneurs in the beauty industry. We are open to partnerships that help expand opportunities, scale ideas, and spotlight Nigerian excellence globally,” she added.

Describing the graduates as the industry’s future, she encouraged them to: “Keep pushing, keep growing, and never forget that beauty is not just what you create; it’s also the impact you leave behind.”

In her keynote address titled “Beyond Beauty: Why Standards, Skills, and Synergy Will Shape Our Next Decade,” Dr. Hilda Titiloye spoke on the critical role of standards, skills, and synergy in shaping the African beauty industry’s next decade.

She noted that the event was designed to enable participants to learn, share valuable insights, and network with industry leaders, emphasizing that the future of African beauty would be built by ecosystems, not lone stars.

Sharing her personal journey, she recounted how she started as a young doctor fresh out of youth service, with little direction but a passion for beauty medicine. Guided by Dr. Bashir Danmallan of Prima Derma, she grew to become a leader in the field.

“Every great artist once held a brush with trembling hands; every mentor was once a mentee, and every master once had a master,” she said.

Dr. Titiloye also shared tips for mastering the art of beauty, highlighting the importance of learning.

“Before any applause, before any accolades, before any mastery, there must be a moment of learning. That is the spirit in which we gather here today—to honor not just who we’ve become, but those who helped us become. And more importantly, to commit to raising others as we were once raised.”

Acknowledging the rapid evolution of the beauty industry, she stressed the value of mastery over fleeting trends.

“In this era of filters, fast fame, and fleeting trends, there’s something quietly, powerfully enduring: mastery. Mastery is not just skill—it is discipline. It is depth.”

Dr. Titiloye advocated for inter-specialty collaboration to drive exponential growth in the beauty industry.

“When we collaborate across specialties, we don’t just grow individually; we grow exponentially. That is why Masters of Beauty was created—to connect brilliance with brilliance, to turn competition into collaboration, and to remind us that community is our greatest asset.”

Adanna Okoro, Lead Trainer of the Beauty Therapy Institute, advised the public to avoid dangerous beauty practices, noting that the institute educates its students against such acts.

A total of 22 students graduated from the institute’s 2025 session.
