ABUJA – The Labour Party has paid tribute to the late Afenifere leader, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, recognizing him as a fearless statesman who championed justice and democracy in Nigeria.
The statement, issued by Marcel Ngogbehei, Director General of the Labour Party Directorate of Mobilization and Integration, highlighted Adebanjo’s commitment to progressive governance and his contributions toward a just society.
The party celebrated Adebanjo’s legacy, noting his belief in justice, equity, and inclusivity aligns with its mission for a new Nigeria. Even in his later years, he spoke out against injustice and advocated for the power of the people.
Ngogbehei expressed solidarity with the Yoruba nation and all Nigerians as they mourn Adebanjo, calling him a true patriot whose contributions will inspire future generations. The Labour Party reaffirmed its commitment to the ideals Adebanjo lived for and pledged to honor his legacy in its pursuit of a just society.
The statement reads, “Pa Adebanjo was not just a leader; he was a fearless statesman, a principled nationalist, and a tireless advocate for truth, fairness, and good governance.
“His unwavering commitment to democracy, the rule of law, and the restructuring of Nigeria was the hallmark of his lifelong struggle for a better nation.
“Even in his later years, his voice never wavered in the face of injustice.
“His belief in the power of the people and his advocacy for genuine leadership inspired many, and his contributions to the struggle for a just and fair society will never be forgotten.
“As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate his extraordinary legacy—one that will continue to inspire generations to come.”
