The little slit is on a mission to provide flexibility; in other words, functionality.
The only objection we have about this design is the waistband. Of course, we understand the designer’s intention to give the back a more flattering view. However, a smaller waistband would have been a better choice, especially since the top was designed to be tucked in. And that doesn’t change or reduce the effect of the bold belt behind.
