A top show manager, Bright Ofuelu has publicly refuted claims circulating online that an oil-leading giant in Africa paid Nigerian music superstars Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Davido a combined $11 million to perform at its upcoming year-end event.
The rumours, which began spreading across social media platforms earlier, suggested that the oil giant had engaged the trio for an extravagant concert as part of its end-of-year celebrations.
However, the Oil giant has categorically dismissed the claims, labelling them as baseless and untrue.
denying the claims, the Top show Manager, in a series of tweets on X, marvelled at the speed at which the figures were concocted while noting that dollar was paid to these superstars but not at the exaggerated sum being peddled online and some section of the media.
“Dollar was paid for top performances, but the figures being quoted online are pure #FakeNews,” one tweet reads.
A tweet also debunks the figures spreading on social media,”Excited fans and rival brands need to chill! Burna, Wizkid, and Davido did their thing, but these figures being pushed are #FakeNews.
The company further clarified that while it values entertainment and cultural engagement, such a financial commitment to a single event is not part of its operational focus.
The unverified reports sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with fans speculating about the alleged payments. Many questioned the plausibility of the amount, while others expressed excitement at the prospect of seeing three of Africa’s biggest music stars at the same event.
