..calls for transparent, impartial investigation

A diaspora group, the Mzough U Tiv United Kingdom, MUTUK, has urged a transparent and impartial investigation into the recent assault on the duo of Mr. Vershima Mker and Lami Iorvihi in a vehicle by an alleged seniour military personnel and his orderlies in Abuja, to ensure justice in the matter.
The video of the said attack which left the male victim bleeding from the head went viral on social and mainstream media sparking anger and condemnation both within and outside the country.
Reacting in a statement made available to newsmen in Makurdi, weekend, by its Publicity Secretary, Nadoo Jomboh for the President, Chief Victor Aleva, MUTUK condemned the assault on the duo describing it as an unjustifiable physical violence.
The President of MUTUK in the statement on behalf of the Executive Committee and members condemned, “in the strongest possible terms, this unjustifiable physical violence Mr. Vershima Mker and Ms. Lami Iorvihi were subjected to. This deplorable act of battery represents an alarming abuse of power and the violation of human rights.
“These actions are not only a personal affront to Mr. Mker and Ms. Iorvihi, who deserve justice and redress, but serve as a stark reminder of the dangers posed when those entrusted with authority misuse their positions to intimidate and harm the citizens they are meant to defend and protect.
“The alleged actions of these military personnel are a betrayal of the values of discipline and accountability that the armed forces are sworn to uphold.
“MUTUK calls on the President and Commander in Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, Bola Tinubu, to direct the acting Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede to immediately commence a transparent and impartial investigation into this distressing incident with the assurance that justice would be served.”
While calling for decisive action to hold the perpetrators accountable and to send a clear message that such abuses would not be tolerated as no one was above the law, MUTUK offered its unconditional support to the victims and their families in their difficult time.
