One of the stakeholders in the Niger Delta, Prince Emmanuel Botu has raised concerns over the rising spate of killings, kidnappings and various forms of criminality ravaging the country, especially as Yuletide draws near.
Prince Emmanuel Botu also known as Olotu, in a statement made available to Vanguard, urged President Bola Tinubu and Security Chiefs in the country to immediately arrest the situation devastating families across the country which he noted is threatening the very fabric of our society.

Botu said, “I stand before you today to address a pressing concern that threatens the very fabric of our society. The rising spate of kidnappings across Nigeria, particularly during this festive season, demands immediate attention and action from President Tinubu and all security outfits.”

“The recent surge in kidnappings is alarming, and we must acknowledge the devastating impact it has on families, communities, and the nation as a whole.¹ Despite President Tinubu’s promises to curb insecurity, the numbers continue to rise, and we must hold our leaders accountable for ensuring the safety and security of all Nigerians.’

As we approach the festive season, it’s crucial that we take proactive measures to prevent kidnappings and ensure that citizens can celebrate without fear of harm. We urge President Tinubu to convene an emergency meeting with security chiefs to develop a comprehensive strategy to tackle this menace.²

Furthermore, we call on all security agencies to:

• Intensify Patrols: Increase visible patrols in high-risk areas to deter potential kidnappers.
• Improve Intelligence Gathering: Enhance intelligence gathering and sharing to identify and apprehend kidnappers.
• Enhance Community Engagement: Foster stronger relationships with local communities to encourage information sharing and collaboration.

We also appeal to President Tinubu to consider implementing policies that address the root causes of kidnapping, such as poverty, unemployment, and social inequality.³

In conclusion, the rising tide of kidnappings in Nigeria demands swift and decisive action. We urge President Tinubu and all security outfits to take immediate steps to prevent kidnappings, protect citizens, and ensure a safe and secure festive season for all.
