A chieftain of All Progressive Grand Alliance ,APGA, in Abia State, Sir Chikwe Udensi has accused the state government and management of the Geometric power company of commissioning the Aba integrated Power Project in a hurry just to receive credit and pride.

Udensi stated that it was not time to commission the project which was commissioned by Vice President Kashim Shettima, stressing that it was a bad publicity stunt.

The APGA chieftain who was a former governorship aspirant , who stated this featuring on ABN TV programme, ‘Open Parliament, disclosed that he has been in touch with Aba residents, saying the feedback indicates that there is no power ,let alone uninterrupted.

“Geometric power plant was commissioned in a hurry, just to receive credit. It was a bad publicity stunt. I have been in touch with the residents of Aba, the feedback is that there is no power ,let alone uninterrupted.’

He attributed the commissioning of the Geometric power plant to the commissioning of Ajaokuta Steel Company in the past as well as the commissioning of Dangote Refinery which hurriedly launched projects, commissioned when they are not ready for use.

He said the state government should have waited a while and help to put the project into full use before commissioning it.

During the TV ProgrammeGeometric Power Project had earlier called on Aba residents to be patient as efforts are being put in place to ensure that the project comes into full use.

However, Udensi commended the former Governors; Orji Uzor Kalu, Senator Theodore Orji and Dr Okezie Ikpeazu for their massive support in ensuring that the project is actualized.

He also faulted the claim by the Chairman of Geometric Power, Prof. Barth Nnaji that he never received funding from Abia state government during the immediate past administration, insisting that it is a false claim as the Ikpeazu’s administration massively funded the project.
