The Imo state Police operatives, military have started intensive patrol operations in the dreaded Orsu council Area of Imo state to checkmate activities of gunmen in the areas.
The Imo state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Henry Okoye, disclosed this to newsmen in Owerri, on Tuesday.
The other areas of security operation patrol included but not limited to Orlu and Oru East Council Areas of the state.
For the past four years, traditional rulers, residents of Orsu said they abandoned their home town for fear of attack by gunmen. Many of them fled to Owerri to take cover. They said their means of livelihood, properties were shattered during this period of insecurity.
To this extent, the police said: “On 5/03/2024, the Commissioner of Police Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma alongside DC Operations and operatives of the State’s Special Task Force comprising of the Police and Military.
“They embarked on an intense confidence building patrol in Orlu, Orsu and Oru East LGAs of Imo State to re-engineer back public trust in security agencies and foster community participation in the onslaught against crime and criminality in these areas.”
“Hon. Engr. Francis Uche Agabige representing Orsu State Constituency and one of the leaders of Orsu LGA, Hon. Engr Friday Ibekaeme, joined the CP in accessing the security situation of these areas and collaborative emplaced strategies to make it safer for economic growth and development,” the command said.
