The Acting Vice Chancellor of Trinity University, Yaba, Lagos, Prof. Clement Kolawole, has called for the upgrade of the country’s educational architecture, if the country is to realise her potential.

He stated this on Wednesday while speaking on the activities lined up for the maiden convocation ceremony of the university.

According to him, such a step would also require including private universities and helping them achieve their mandate.

” A lot of challenges are confronting the education sector in this country and concerted efforts needed to address the issues and while we are doing that, the private schools must not be excluded. High cost of living is impacting on the services we provide. It is not good to leave private universities to source for funds from banks at throat cutting rates.

“Despite the challenges, we are proud to produce our first two sets of graduates at Trinity University and we are happy that the testimonials from far and wide about them are positive. I commend the founding fathers for their vision and resilience. All our 16 programmes have been fully accredited by the authorities and we are introducing more, ” he said.

Kolawole added that as part of the ceremony, business mogul, Prince Samuel Adedoyin, would be installed the Chancellor of the institution.

Also, wife of the former Oyo State Governor, Chief Abiola Ajimobi, Florence, would be honoured with a doctorate degree along with Dr John Tanimowo Obaro.

Also speaking on the occasion, the Pro- Chancellor, Pastor Samuel Olatunji, said the Trinity Group of Schools started about 30 years ago.

He expressed joy that it has grown to include a university and that a permanent site of the institution is being planned for the suburbs of Lagos.

A Convocation Lecture titled, “Disruptive Technology: The Ambiguous Friend?” will be

delivered by Prof. Adenike Osofisan, Africa’s first woman professor of Computer Science.
