ADO-EKITI – The Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Dr. Adewale Omirin and Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in Osun State have kicked against the planned removal of oil subsidy.

Speaking at Isan-Ekiti  yesterday, Omirin  said there was no need removing subsidy on petroleum products, describing President Goodluck Jonathan’s insistence as “inhuman” in the face of the economic hardship .

The  speaker further alleged that the president  had arm twisted the governors into supporting the controversial subsidy removal.

He said: “The governors never supported it (subsidy removal). What my governor (Dr. Fayemi) told me was that they (governors) never supported subsidy removal. What the President actually did was that he said he would be deducting the subsidy from their federal allocation but the governors kicked.

“He (Jonathan) now  persuaded them and added what is deducted from the excess crude oil and he said they should go out and say they are in support of subsidy removal.”

Meantime, the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in Osun State has kicked against the proposed removal of oil subsidy by President Jonathan from next year describing the proposed action of the Federal Government as an attempt to destabilise Nigeria and also escalate the hardship of its people.

The Party also blamed the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP-led federal government  for  its stand on the matter despite the  public outcry  against the policy.
