Yenagoa—Governorship candidate of Change Advocacy Party, CAP, in the February gubernatorial election in Bayelsa State, Dr. Imoro Kubor, has said that he and his running mate,  Rev  Obegha Oworibo, remained the candidates to beat in the forthcoming election because of their excellent civil service careers.

Kubor, a retired Federal Permanent Secretary in the Presidency, described himself and Revd. Oworibo, who is the immediate past Head of Service in the state, as technocrats who were in politics to make a difference in the lives of the people.

Kubor, who said he only made a tactical change to the CAP from the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, to realize the ambition with his running mate, said they had acquired enough experience that would help the transformation of the state,when elected.

He said: “The two of us are technocats from the public service who would be bringing our wealth of experience into politics to ensure the transformation of Bayelsa State. We have been tested in a cultured civil service with a lot of discipline.”

Kubor, who dumped the PDP ahead of the 2011 poll in the state and secured the ticket of the ACN before moving to CAP ahead of the 2012 poll, said his exit from the PDP and the ACN were informed by “tactical” reasons for the realization of the dream to rule the state and save the people from the destructive rule of past administrations.

According to Kubor, ”the party does not bring development to a state but the individual involved as the elected governor. Bayelsa is claimed to be a PDP state but it is not the party that is expected to bring development but the individual. That is what the PDP is lacking that the CAP has.

In Akwa Ibom, it is not PDP but Akpabio that is working. What we are telling the people is to look at the individual candidate and forget the party. Since 1999, the PDP has claimed to be ruling, but they had negative effect on the governance of the state. It is our time to take Bayelsa to a new level.”

He described as “welcome” and “normal,” the reported rush by governorship candidates in the state for spiritual consultations and prayers towards a successful outing in the February 11, 2012 poll in the state, saying his connection with the famous miracle pastor, T. B. Joshua, was a divine one that can not be broken.

Kubor said though his closeness with the famous Pastor, T. B. Joshua was due to his membership of the Church of All Nations, his consultation with him on his mission to lead Bayelsa State is normal and not bad to consult church leaders for the way forward.
