Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi is keen on returning the team to the National Stadium in Lagos and has therefore appealed to the National Sports Commission, NSC to give the stadium a facelift .

Keshi made the appeal in Abuja Wednesday when he paid a courtesy call on the Director-General of the NSC, Chief Patrick Ekeji who advised him to build the new Super Eagles around home-based players who are more hungry for success.

His visit to the Director-General was to solicit for support to enable him carry out the assignment of building a new national team and taking football in Nigeria to new heights as well as appeal for the rehabilitation of the playing turf of the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.

He particularly urged Chief Ekeji to take serious steps towards the resuscitation of the playing turf of the Lagos National Stadium to facilitate matches there which is seen as home of football in Nigeria.

While promising that the NSC will continue to give Keshi all the encouragement required to ensure that he succeeds in the task of building a new Super Eagles, Chief Ekeji advised him to build the national team around the local players who are hungry for success.

According to the Director-General, the formation of a new-look national team around budding talents from the local league should be the immediate priority of Keshi.

While urging him to be focused on the task at hand, Ekeji further advised Keshi to concentrate his choice of players from among the home-based as this will not only serve to motivate them, but will go a long way in giving the foreign-based footballers enough competition for shirts whenever they are invited for national assignments.
