N2.3bn Trauma centre for Ondo

A N2.3 billion Trauma Centre is being constructed in Ondo town by the Ondo State government to provide emergency services for road and domestic accident victims.

Governor Olusegun Mimiko said the centre would provide timely and qualitative emergency medical services for all accident victims and other patients said the centre, when completed would be equipped with accident and emergency unit, information and call centre, mortuary and doctors and Alaanu Hostels.

He gave details about the centre at the opening of a three-day training workshop for health personnel preparatory to the take-off of the Emergency Medical Services programme in the state.

Speaking through his chief of staff, Dr Kola Ademujimi, the governor said the contractors handling the project had been appropriately mobilized to ensure the timely completion of the project located on Laje Road , Ondo.

He lamented that the rampant cases of road accidents in the country posed a great threat to the socio-economic development of the nation “because most of the victims were within the productive class, who ought to contribute to the economic growth of the country.”

The state commissioner for health, Dr Dayo Adeyanju, said the healthcare innovation was part of the caring heart policies of the government to boost healthcare services in the state.
