Man 24, jailed 2 months over Blackberry phone

An Abuja Senior Magistrates’ Court on Thursday sentenced a  24-year-old businessman, Daniel Ekemaye, to two months imprisonment for selling his friend’s blackberry phone without his consent.

The police prosecutor, Corporal Emeka Oganah, told the court that on December 4, Mr Ahone Oja of Lugbe Zone 5, Abuja, reported the accused at Lugbe Police Station.

Oganah said that Ekemaye collected Oja’s blackberry handset valued N55, 000, thereafter, sold it at N7,000 without his consent.

He said that when Ekemaye was questioned, he could not give a satisfactory account of the incident.

The prosecutor said the offence was contrary to Section 308 of the Penal Code.

Ekemaye pleaded guilty to the offence and begged the court to temper justice with mercy.

Convicting Ekemaye, Senior Magistrate Aliyu Shafa gave him an option of N1,000 fine to deter others with similar intention.(NAN)
