AWKA — IT was eulogies galore as the ancient community of Nri in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State recently organized a civic reception for the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Peter Umeadi, who hails from the area.
Justice Umeadi won the Vanguard Newspapers Man of the Year, 2008, award and was recently confirmed the Chief Judge of Anambra State.
Governor Peter Obi, who was represented at the ceremony by the state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Mr. Dubem Obaze, said the decision by the community to honour the chief judge showed the high esteem his people held him.
He commended the diligence and commitment of the chief judge in upholding justice, recalling his landmark performance as the Chairman of Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal that declared Comrade Adams Oshiomhole governor of Edo State.
He said the elevation of Justice Umeadi as the chief judge of the state was strictly on merit, adding that he was confident that Umeadi’s tenure as head of judiciary in the state would further improve on the standard.
