Seriki, Pereira shine at Emzor Wellness race

Kayode Seriki and Bukola Pereira both set the Emzor Wellness athletics race aglow over the weekend with scintillating performance in the male and female category respectively.

Seriki returned with a time of 23.56.32 to beat Emmanuel Gyan and Stephen Jube to the second and third place respectively.

Seriki who is from Lagos state has won the event for the third time running. He said he was happy to have won the keenly contested race with a prize money of N50,000 and promised to use the money judiciously to further his athletics career.

In the female category, 15 years old Bukola Pereira also from Lagos defeated Ngozi Ogodo and Aminat Olowoira to clinch the ultimate prize of N50,000 in a time of 28.52.17. An elated Pereira while speaking to newsmen said I was very happy to have won this event because I have been training hard for this championship.

I want to thank Emzor for giving me the opportunity to realise my dreams as an athlete. Although I have taken part in other athletics championships like the National School Sports Festival where I won two gold medals and a silver in 2010 and also the Mobil Track and Field event where I won two golds and a silver in the long distance race.”
