General Manger of Lobi Stars of Makurdi, Samuel Aindigh has disclosed that the team worked hard not to be relegated after their home ground, the Aper Aku Stadium was closed for reconstruction and they had to play their home games outside Makurdi.

Aindigh made this known to Inside Out Premier League at the team’s Jubilee Hotel in Ibadan after their encounter with Shooting Stars which they lost by a lone goal. He stated that the possibility of returning to the Aper Aku Stadium is dependent on the pace of work by the contractor handling the project.

“I will be sincere with you, at the start of the season we resolved that we will not go on relegation because we knew the danger of playing outside your home in the league. With this in mind, we had to tell ourselves the truth and we were focused on it. I am satisfied that we achieved it in style not even close to the relegation zone.

“Work is going on at the Aper Aku Stadium and I can’t tell when we would return there because it would be determined by the contractor in-charge. All I know is that he is doing a great job in the stadium,” Aindigh said.

On the game against 3SC, he felt if his lads had played the way they did, they would have gotten a continental slot but were not able because it is very hard to maintain the momentum in football.

“We played a good game today (Sunday) which everybody saw and appreciated.

I think if we had played like this since the beginning of the league, we would not have finished where we finished. It was our aim to pick the continental ticket but it eluded us,” Aindigh added.
