BENIN – AS Edo State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, fix January 2012 for its governorship primaries ahead of the 2012 governorship election, former Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees, Chief Tony Anenih, has assured governorship aspirants that there will be no imposition of any aspirant on the party.
He said the resolution of the leadership of the party was to ensure that credible and popular candidate emerge as the party’s candidate, adding that the idea was to ensure that the most popular candidate, capable of defeating Governor Adams Oshiomhole, emerges.
He spoke, weekend, in Benin City, at a meeting of the leadership of the party and aspirants.
Some of the aspirants at the meeting included former governor of the state, Prof. Oserheimen Osun-bor; former Special Adviser to the President on Project Monitoring, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere; former Com-mander Corps of the Army Finance and Accounts, Gen. Charles Airhiavbere (rtd.) and Mr. Jacob Idinye.
