Stephen Keshi says changes will be made in Eagles and one of his assistants, Daniel Amokachi has confirmed that the changes would not only be tactical but also in the selection of players. And this will mean dropping those who do not meet their standards.

And their standards are not only in the display of skills but most importantly in the determination and hunger to play for Nigeria.

“Keshi is serious about transforming the team and we are all committed to that,” Amokachi said, adding “players must fight for shirts and those who have had chances to play for up to a year or two or up to five times and could not up their game should know that their time is over.

We will begin to drop those who are not measuring up and there are a couple of them. If a dropped player shows that he is hungry to return to the team we will recall him. We will also begin to train and build new players.”

Amokachi spoke after Botswana held Eagles to a scoreless draw in Benin.

Keshi spoke on the match; “We missed many chances but you know we had only three training sessions with the players. They will improve with time. I have seen the things I need to change. The work is enormous but we will be on it. I have a good team and we will get there. We made some good moves and the players really wanted to win. I think Botswana are not a bad side but they were also lucky. We attacked well but couldn’t score.

We will work on that. The good thing is that they were moving forward especially in the second half. We will play Zambia on Tuesday and we hope to have a good game.”
