Gunmen shoot Bayelsa monarch

The peace of the riverside community of Otuokpoti in the Ogbia local government area of Bayelsa State was Saturday,  violated when unknown armed gunmen launched dawn attack on the residence of the deputy chief of the community, Noble Ewege.

The gunmen numbering five it was learnt opened fire on their target and inflicted injury on him before whisking him away in a waiting boat and disappearing into the labyrinth of creeks.

Vanguard learnt that the unknown gunmen stormed the riverside settlement in a speedboat at about 3am and made straight for the residence of Chief Ewege.
The motive of the attack and abduction of the community deputy chief  could not be immediately ascertained as at press time.
