Managing Director of Nestle Milo Martin Woolnough has said that the company will continue to empower the youths of Nigeria through sports in order to make them useful to the country and themselves in future.
Speaking at the closing events of Milo Football Clinic season 2 last Saturday at the Campus Square in Lagos , Woolnough said organising the first edition of the programme with former Nigeria goalkeeper Peter Rufai was rewarding..
He affirmed that the company was proud of the programme and would continue it next year in a better way, as a form of giving back to the society and helping to build future champions for the country.
“It’s really fantastic having a successful end of the second season of the Milo Football clinic with Rufai. I think it is very clear to have a good opportunity to continue with the good work we started with Basket ball over 10 years ago. Last year, we kicked-off with football, this is our second season and we have expanded it the more.
He continued “Our mission is to help the country restore her football again and also develop the clinic the more and we are about to make these things work very well.”
“ The future of Nigeria football is extremely promising, and the challenging is realize in the promise. Obviously, I’m very confidence with the young stars we have seen, it is really progressing. Mark my word from 10 years from now, if these boys were keep up and properly nurture they will make the country proud and be world champion,” he said.
When asked why he ventured into football after many years of sponsoring Basketball, Woolnough said, “common sense made us to venture into sponsoring football after the success made in Basketball. We are doing things that is perfect for sports and we are very proud of what we are doing for sports in Nigeria. We are very happy to be helping and contributing to sports in Nigeria. We have over 30 professional coaches working to make these successful,” he said.
