Management of Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, Edo State, has denied recent media reports that the institution was involved in the recent murder of a chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state, Mr. Ahmad Inu-Umoru, who was shot dead by suspected cultists in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area.
The institution, in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Mr. M. Oshiobugie, said: “It is interesting that your report confirmed that the circumstances surrounding the shooting were unclear.
“As indicated in your report, the Police are already investigating the shooting and it would be better to wait for the outcome of their report.
“Let the public know that the deceased was not a student of the polytechnic and there was no nexus between the shooting and the polytechnic.”
The statement added: “Where the reporter got the absolutely fictitious information of ex-cultists creating tension in the polytechnic is best left to him.”
